DC R1D3R, 02/06/2008 - According to the latest issue of UK mag Gamesmaster, Electronic Arts have made a dramatical "250 key improvements" to upcoming footie-fest, FIFA 09. Some of the improvements include a revamped collision system and improved player responsiveness that allows for quicker release of the ball. There's also a new jostle system that takes into account the strenght of the players when challenging for the ball and even subtle animations that allows you to take first-time shots. Hit jump for the lowdown.
Although GM notes the new system makes tumbles look far more realistic, it's not just a visual change. For example, if a tackle comes in and hits a player's standing leg there's a good chance he'll go down hard, taking him out of the game. But if the player is in mid-strike and gets clipped, he could lose his balance but continue running.
FIFA 08 proved very popular with football fans (it outsold arch-rival PES 2008 ), with improved garphics and impressive licensing advertisements and if the new iteration can improve even further, EA may have worked out the perfect tactics.
